Environmental accounting for digital infrastructure.

Provena is being built to help organisations account for the environmental impact of AI, cloud computing, data centres, compute infrastructure and digital hardware. It connects operational activity with evidence, calculation methodology and data provenance so environmental results can be understood, reviewed and reported rather than presented as unexplained estimates.

We understand the operation, existing systems, data and constraint before deciding what should be built. Outputs may include system requirements, process architecture, technical scope, integration requirements and an implementation plan.

02 / SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

We design and build the actual system: web applications, internal platforms, databases, APIs, integrations, automation, justified AI functionality and reporting systems.

03 / DEPLOYMENT & OPERATION

We can remain responsible after launch: hosting, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, security updates, backups, ongoing engineering and feature development.

We design the application, data architecture, integrations and infrastructure around the requirement rather than forcing the business around a predetermined product.

We deploy and manage what we build. Hosting, monitoring, maintenance and continued development can remain with Syntara after launch.

Syntara began by working directly with businesses to identify operational problems and engineer systems to solve them. That established the principle the company still follows: understand the operation before deciding what should be built. Today Syntara operates as a software company. Alongside custom systems for businesses, we develop and operate our own software products independently. The model has evolved. The engineering principle hasn’t.
